An excellent and very timely offering from A3H Promotions publicising the bands they have promoted at The Attic in Accrington over the past twelve months.
Most of the tracks on offer are very good whilst more than a handful are outstanding. One such is cd opener 'Had Enough' from Darwen's AVALON WAY, a powerful riff - heavy number and live favourite. EXIT STATE who can often be a bit workmanlike for me provide one of the surprises of this compilation with 'Tick Tock' which has much more variation and melody than their other stuff.

The North West music scene is arguably stronger now than it has ever been, it is almost turning into a movement revolving around the twin hubs of the aforementioned Attic and Blackburn's Cellar bar. Obviously there are other venues but these two seem to polarise and capture the current mood particularly well.
Back to the music. Bolton trio LEAF provide 'I'm Not Emo, I Just Forgot My Belt' which wins the award for best title if nothing else. They were one of the standout bands at the recent Cellar Bar Festival.
The Colonial Movement Company's 'Doodlebugs' reminds me of The Rutles doing their piss take of 'I Am The Walrus', 'Piggy In The Middle' but it is a quality track, nonetheless.
Throw in great songs by the ever reliable UNCLE JEFF and the major signed THE RESERVED and you have got a cd that is a true snapshot of the current North West indie scene.
To obtain your free copy just attend an Attic gig and fill in the mailing list but be quick, they are in short supply.
