INDEPENDENT @ THE EVOLUTION LOUNGE THURSDAY 4TH MAY 2006
VIDEOSPIEL + INDIA MILL + METRO RIOT.

Another well attended Independent night at the reworked Evolution Lounge.
Making their Independent debut are Blackburn quartet VIDEOSPIEL and what a welcome addition they make, another young band that aren't afraid to try something new. Their music is heavy indie but with great vocals. Singer / guitarist Jack seems shy singing at first but once into his stride shows he has a good voice; the harmonising he does with bass player Chris is one of the night's highlights. Sure, there are a couple of screw ups, the odd bum note but what the hell, these new Independent nights are here to promote new talent, Videospiel certainly fit that bill.

India Mill (sort of) Videospiel

I'm not going to dwell too much on INDIA MILL'S performance as we reviewed them not so long ago other than to say that they were excellent, the best I have heard yet. Tonight they are pushing their new e.p. which is incidentally, also spot on. They play all the favourites, 'Side of seven', 'My fury', the sublime 'Caribesque' and an impromptu cover of Dylan's 'Maggie's Farm'. Good stuff.

It wasn't all good. After one fuck up too many, the hugely disappointing METRO RIOT announced that they are still better than ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!....they aren't.
