A five track e.p. that by the band's own admission, should be three. I don't think they know why they included two poorly recorded live songs onto the end of three sublimely recorded studio tracks; the only shortcoming here and a small one at that.

India Mill have a real Pixies vibe about them insomuch that they are a thrill to listen to and full of surprises. Opening track and live favourite 'My Fury' is possibly as close as they get to aping the quiet / loud template that The Pixies created long before the likes of Nirvana adopted it on their way to megastardom. The classic sounding 'Caribesque' keeps the thrill level up. Alistair's vocals switch from plaintive to falsetto effortlessly as the track builds to its awesome climax, Simon's guitar away out in space giving the track all the sonic atmosphere it needs and all this backed up with one of the tightest rhythm sections I have heard in a long time. Third track 'Side Of Seven' carries on in the same vein as 'My Fury', full of power that should be listened to as loud as you can stand.
Special mention must go to producer Mark Jones who has managed to capture their powerful live sound successfully resisting the temptation to layer the music with unnecessary effects leaving the recordings clear and natural sounding. I haven't a clue what Alistair is singing about but the words flow and weave their way around the melodies creating odd, oblique images that seem to suggest new meanings during each successive listening.
It is just a thought but I'd drop the two live tracks and release it as a three track e.p. People need to hear this.
