PRETEND GIRLFRIEND Demo.

Pretend Girlfriend

Tracks: Shopping for Free. Green and Alcohol.

Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics once said they were a meat and potatoes rock band and we should never expect anything spectacular from them. So when 'Shopping For Free' starts up sounding a lot like 'Madam Helga', you're expecting it to be a pretty standard rock and roll fare. But listen to those lyrics! Oh the lyrics! As decent a slab of indie rock and roll this song is, the words help take it to a level it shouldn't quite reach.
It's a great tale of how a small town girl, loved by all the blokes, turns coke fiend and petty thief. "I used to wanna see her, now that she's a dealer I don't care!" sings vocalist Simmy. It's like finding out what Elsa from 'Supersonic' gets up to when she's not doing it with a doctor on a helicopter.

'Green and Alcohol' lyrics do the opposite, however. Although weaker than the previous track it's still an alright tune, it's just it's about making an arse of your self when your pissed. Now, I've just about forgot about the embarrassing stuff I did last weekend, and I'm looking far too forward to this one to think I might do something similar.

So in summary we all love to hear about somebody else's failings, just not our own ok lads!
